No, these kernels don’t make popcorn that tastes like mushrooms! It is named that because of what they look like when popped. They pop into round balls that not only look extra special, but are also perfect for delicious creations, as they provide a larger surface area for glazes and other flavourings to stick to.

Turn up the temperature: Mushroom popcorn  requires a high temperature of at least 200 degrees Celsius in order to produce enough steam to open the kernels into their round shape.

  • Popping kernels on the stove is really so simple. I normally add a touch of coconut oil to the bottom of the pot, but any oil with a high smoking point, such as sunflower, safflower or sesame would be fine. You can even add some real butter
  • Being whole grain, popcorn contains a whole heap of fibre which helps improve digestion and keep us regular. A fibre rich diet also helps reduce of risk of heart attacks, by sweeping excess cholesterol from artery walls.
